Serving your way to the Top

God's ways are different than our ways. Instead of continuing to do things the same old way as the world, the same way we used to do things before we were saved, we should instead read His Word, learn His will, exercise our faith in Him and do things HIS way.
Jesus said it best "Not my will but Thy will be done". He taught us to pray that way as well,"Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven".

Doing God's will may not be easy, but will always require exercising faith. Why? Because without faith it is impossible to please Him. The Bible says we must believe that he exists and is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

We hear a lot about success as Christians in churches and books today. But have we read God's word concerning how we should achieve success? If we have read his word and know his will then we know that in order to receive, we must give. In order to be promoted, we must be faithful. Even a well known children's song gives away one of the Kingdom's greatest secrets of promotion. "If you want to be great in God's Kingdom you must become the servant of all." Are you doing your best to be a servant for your spouse, at your church, or for your employer? You may say, that my boss isn't a Christian so why should I try any harder than anyone else? You've missed the whole point. The Bible teaches us that we are a light to the world. If you work "as unto the Lord" the unsaved boss and fellow employees will know that you are the "Real Deal". When we just glide by or worse yet become rebellious complaining employees, instead of God being glorified by our behavior, His name is profaned. It would be better if we kept our faith in Jesus a secret, than to claim to know him and continually challenge authority at work or at church or in our family.

When John the Baptist first preached that the Kingdom of God was at hand, many asked him what shall we do. His reply was to "bring forth fruit" in keeping with your repentance.
Jesus said we would know who believes by our fruit. What kind of fruit are you presenting to others around you, love, patience, long suffering, or anger, rebellion and impatience. Try things God's way and see if he will not work on your behalf. Remember promotion comes from the Lord. Consider David. Although He was only a youth he was faithful in serving his father by watching those sheep. He went way above the call of duty saving them from the bear and the lion that attempted to cause loss under his watch. To his brothers he was just a shepherd boy, but to God he was King material. Do you believe God has called you to be a leader? Then begin to serve God now in whatever capacity you are in and do it God's way. His eyes are sharp and focused on those who are doing his will, pleasing Him. Do not faint during the tough times. Do not quit when things get bad, but call on him in the day of trouble and he will hear your voice deliver you and ultimately, in his time, promote you and you will be glad you served others His way and received His reward.
